Oh Robbie you had me at,
Do you swing?
Why yes I do! Especially if I’m being serenaded by a man such as yourself!
The Swing Tour hit Perth on Thursday the 11th September at Perth Arena. Friday night I was fortunate enough to accompany my uber cool brother in law to the concert as his plus one. What a fantastic night I had!
Mr Greg and I started our evening with a delicious meal at the CBD Restaurant & Bar. Despite a minor hiccup with bumper to bumper traffic on the free way we were soon in the city and heading off to eat.
I had a delicious BLT served with salad and chips and Mr Greg had the Fish and Chips also served with salad. Both meals were generous in size and I’m pretty sure Mr G thought his meal was the best ever!
Now enough about food, let’s talk Robbie!
I was a Robbie Williams virgin. Having never been to one of his concert’s before he did not disappoint! I am quite partial to a bit of swinging, in the music sense of course. So the fact that Robbie didn’t entertain the crowd with past hits made no difference to the performance I witnessed.
I loved the high energy, big band swing-fest. With his own renditions of the hits Puttin On The Ritz, That’s Amore and Minnie The Moocher, Robbie was in full flight. And man oh man can he dance!
Highlights of the evening for me were New York, New York and singing along with the rest of the crowd when he belted out Angels
I love the cheeky nature of Robbie, happy to poke fun at himself and his somewhat dwindling popularity! Before telling us a story about his daughter and her preference for Beyonce’s Single Ladies over his music!
Audience participation was also high on the agenda. The show started with Robbie asking the crowd to show their jazz hands before marrying a fan and singing Happy Birthday to two girls celebrating their 18th birthdays.
All in all a fantastic show that I thoroughly enjoyed!
Thanks for a wonderful date Mr G I’m happy to be your plus one any time. And if your heading off to any of the remaining Australian concerts, be prepared to be entertained!
