Mixed Up with Mixed Prints!

Well hello there!

Once again I have been a little MIA for a few days. I have found it tricky this week to find enough time between school holidays, birthdays and family outings to put together a post. Plus I don’t want to just throw something together for the sake of posting!

So for today’s feature I have chosen to ‘shop’ my wardrobe and bring you a fashion phenomenon known as Mixed Prints! I’m not sure it’s actually a phenomenon, but it is a great way to put a new spin on your wardrobe!

A few months back I would have run screaming at the thought of mixing prints as I used to think it was so wrong to put stripes with flowers! But if I’ve learnt anything in the last few months from other bloggers, Instagram and by participating in style dare’s it would be that it’s is totally ok to mix prints!

What is also great about today’s post is that I haven’t bought anything new but have used items in my wardrobe. My style has always been of the ‘less is more’ train of thought, so although I have embraced the fashion of mixing it together my choices are probably still quite subdued compared to what they could be! Β I think if you are apprehensive like I was then starting out simple is probably the best way to test the waters and decide what you like, what works for you and if you would actually wear it out in public!

Let’s get started!

Like I said in the beginning I have decided to proceed with caution!

I also kept to very similar colour palettes as I’m still learning to embrace the frivolity of mixing prints and patterns! It is a look though, that I do like very much and as my confidence grows with this phenomenon so will the mixing!

I think a great way to embrace this style if you’re still not convinced is to just add a scarf or great pair of printed shoes!

What do you think of this style? Is it something you would try or have you already been participating in this trend forever?

My top three from these looks would be

  1. Sheer black shirt & Pants from Gallery 3
  2. Boyfriend Jean with Print Scarf and Floral Shoes Gallery 2
  3. Coral Skirt with Animal Print Cami and Dot Scarf Gallery 4

Hope you enjoyed this post on Mixing Prints. Go forth and experiment with your wardrobe!!

  1. Hi Malinda πŸ™‚ Hope this finds you well. You have put together some cute looks here. I really took to the blue plaid shirt and the red spotty scarf. Would never have thought of that, but they look great together. Wishing you a great week ahead. xx

  2. Thanks Deidre! This was a lot of fun to put together and I also discovered some new looks!
Hope your week is awesome too xxx

  3. i’m a mixer more and more. i’m late to the party but loved the trend the first time i say it.

i fearlessly mix patterns and colors when i sew my designs for home decor, i don’t think anything of it. it just comes together, i try to use the same design theory when i dress but i admit leaning way more on the conservative side for clothing mix ups.

i think my style is more like your gallery #2.

    1. Thanks for commenting Tracie 😊
I’m pretty late to this party but I am really going to try and embrace it!
I would probably be a lot bolder in my choices for the house so your work sounds great!

  4. I love a bit of pattern mixing and it does get easier the more you do it. No idea what I’m wearing tomorrow yet though!
