I’m very excited to share with you tips from the Unlock Your Style book launch! Held here in Perth at the Rydges Hotel with Nikki Parkinson, who is just as fabulous in real life as you imagine her to be!
After catching up with new blogging and IG friends ( accompanied by drinks and canapes! ) we followed Nikki and her gorgeous Camilla kimono to hear more styling tips. I loved this part of the event as the advice and tips given by Nikki are so practical and easy for anyone to put into practice. Which is what makes the book a great addition to any bookshelf. Full of great advice for giving your wardrobe and yourself a makeover and easy to follow tips for getting your mojo back
From the demonstration given by Nikki and the q&a after, here are the top tips that I took away from the evening!
Scarves & Accessories
- Two of my most favorite things! Scarves are a great way to add a little something to an outfit, lightweight for summer or knitted for winter.Even if you are just spending the day at home and doing the school run, a scarf can make you feel like you’ve made an effort. As for accessories, well a girl can never have too many necklaces!
- I love printed pants! I have a few pairs in my wardrobe and love that they can be paired with a plain top or mixed up with other prints if you don’t mind a print clash. You can check out my previous post on Mixing Prints here for more inspiration!
- I wasn’t sold on the idea of a block heel a few weeks back, but since more and more have hit the shops I bit the bullet and purchased a pair yesterday! Mine are from K-mart for $20 in nude. What do you think, will you embrace the block heel like I have done!
- This is an item I’ve had in my wardrobe for a little while and to be honest I only ever used to wear it if we had a special occasion to go and I needed to take a jacket that wasn’t my usual black! Recently though I have worn it more casually with jeans and a cami, pop on a necklace and you’re good to go!
Here I am just last night wearing my white jacket to an event
Fashion aside one of the best tips from the evening was this,
If your outfit doesn’t make you feel fabulous then don’t wear it! It doesn’t matter what your style is or whether you follow the latest fashion trends, what is so important is how your clothes make you feel! I would thoroughly recommend Nikki’s book if you’re feeling a bit lost in the wardrobe department or, with Christmas just around the corner this book would make the perfect gift!
The following photo’s from the book launch are the work of local Perth photographer Victoria Devine Photography. For more of her lovely work see the Facebook page here.
And that’s a wrap!
I had such a fun night socialising and listening to Nikki speak. If you are still unfamiliar with Nikki’s work because you’ve been living under a rock then please go and visit her website Styling You for much much more!
