Gosh, get your mind out of the gutter!!
I’m sure with Valentine’s Day tomorrow that ‘you know what’ will be the topic of conversation for many ( nudge, nudge wink wink! )
Add to the conversation the highly anticipated ( not by me ) release of Fifty Shades of Grey and it’s bound (get it! ) to be game on……. ahhh it’s all fun and games till someone gets poked unexpectedly or loses the keys to the handcuffs. Awkward.
Anyway there I go talking about you know what which is not what I wanted to talk about.
I want to talk about Valentines Day! In particular, how you do Valentines if you bother at all.
Is it declarations of love and hand holding. Long walks on the beach gazing adoringly into each others eye’s?
Gaudy cards and heart shaped boxes of choccies. Flowers picked up at the local servo ( no, just me? ). Candlelit dinners and romantic music?
For me personally I’m neither for or against Valentines Day. I don’t love it or loathe it. I definitely wouldn’t kick hubby out bed if he bought chocolates with him! I will say that it’s been quite a long while since hubby and I did anything overly romantic on the most romantic day of the year!
Last year we took ourselves up to Kings Park for a picnic to watch the sun set over our beautiful city.
With the kids.
And you know what……. I LOVED it!
This year we have no plans and I’m completely fine with that.
You see I don’t need a day to celebrate my love for Mister Style. I’d like to think I show him everyday how much I love him. Awwww
After all I cook all his meals, wash his clothes. Listen to his stories about cabinetmaking ( almost twenty years in and I still don’t know my laminate from my melamine!) And I never ever mention the fact that it drives me absolutely bonkers that he cannot put his cereal bowl in the dishwasher in the morning. Like seriously. the dishwasher is within arms reach for crying out loud.
As nice as huge bunch of red roses would be, I would in all honesty be just as happy with a flower picked from the garden. I know hubby loves me, he tells me every morning before he leaves for work. He also supports my unwavering love of K-mart so if that’s not true love then I don’t know what is!
So whether you’re going hot air ballooning or having a movie night at home with the kids I hope it makes your heart happy!
If you want to show your significant other how much you love and adore them , just do it! Don’t wait for a specific day on the calendar, you can say I LOVE YOU in many ways on any day of the year!
Enjoy your Valentines Day lovers, I hope you all have a fantastically loved up day……or not. Either way it’s just another day.
Will you be partaking in the lovefest or is it all just a gigantic load of you know what!!
I’d love to hear, especially if there’s a funny story attached!
Could we be any more loved up!!
