Last week along with the usual chaos of life I thought I would make over Mister 11’s bedroom!
I actually had a lot of the bit’s and pieces to get started on making Mister 11’s room look a little more sharp. The problem was being in the mood to get it done.
As much as I love being creative, either with fashion or our home I do find it hard at times to be ‘in the mood’. But once the inspiration strikes I’m off like a rocket and won’t stop until I have everything done and looking exactly how I want it!
I purchased a bed pack from Target for $79 just after Christmas. This included the quilt cover, fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillowcases. I tried to find them online to provide a link but wasn’t able to, however I have seen the sets still in store if you want to find one!
With the quilt cover sorted I went about finding the other decorator items which I found also in Target and of course K-mart!
Here’s what I started with…..
Not terrible but definitely needing to look less little boy, more pre-teen!
And this is what we’ve finished up with……
I’m really happy with how it turned out!
The artwork is from K-mart for $19 along with the cushion $10, arrow light $9 and picture frames $3.50 each.
The stag clock, which I’ll be honest probably won’t ever be used as a clock is from K-mart $12. I painted the bottom half to match it with the rest of the room and I love the black elevator lamp again from K-mart for $15!.
The clock, lamp and canvas print are all currently available online and in store. The arrow light has proven to be tricky to find but perseverance paid off in the end and I managed to get one for myself and one for a friend!
All up I spent under $150 with all the other little bits and pieces that I found on sale. My intention is to paint when we have a break for school holidays / Easter!
I just haven’t told hubbie yet……
The best part of the whole make over is the fact that Mister 11 really really liked it! He doesn’t usually get to excited by things like this so for him to say it was really cool was just awesome!
By now you all know K-mart is my favorite department store, seriously what’s not to love!
Have you done any room make overs recently or are you planning to in the near future?
What’s your source of inspiration and where do you like to shop?
