The Chambray Shirt Dress

The Chambray Shirt Dress…… love it or hate it?

I NEVER thought I would wear something like this but somewhere between starting a blog, taking part in style dares and generally stepping out of my comfort zone I found myself standing in Coles last week staring at this Mix Apparel Chambray dress and thinking……. ‘why the bloody hell not! ‘

Plus I had cashed in some FlyBuy’s points and had a voucher burning a hole in my pocket! So this versatile piece retailing for $29 only put me $9 out of pocket! Even without a voucher it’s still a great dress for a small price.

So like any good fashion blogger I thought I would put together a few looks to show you just how versatile this dress can be and how I would definitely wear it!

First up….

Beach / Park / Bbq chic –

For this look I added a scarf, pair of lace up’s and big beach bag!

I love these new season Lee Cooper lace-up’s with sparkly detail just $19 from Big W.

Chambray Glam Rock…

Now for something with a little more oomph if you like!

The addition of an ankle boot and leather jacket can take this dress from daytime to nighttime easily!

The ankle boots I’m wearing are last years from Best & Less but K-mart has some great boots out at the moment. Here are some featured in the latest catalogue.

And finally

Simple with a Statement…

To keep the look simple I’ve just added this beautiful pink bag from K-mart. In store currently and retailing for $15. I have also added the super cute flats I mentioned in a previous post. Floral flats from Best and Less $15.

I have to say I’m quite impressed with this little dress. As the weather finally starts to cool I have no doubt this will be a firm favourite! When it gets cooler still the addition of leggings / tights will allow for another look also!

What do you think…. yay or nay for the shirt dress!?!

    1. Aww thanks Raych, it wasn’t that long ago that I hated my legs but you gotta work with what you’ve got! Hope you’ve been going okay, was just thinking about you x

  1. I’m on the chambray dress train but in a tea dress rather than shirt style. It took me a long time to accept chambray was back as I last wore it as an oversized shirt in Year 9 (with my white jeans of course) but I’m feeling it now. Husband has also worn his Mix Apparel chambray shirt a couple of times and looks the goods! You have styled this piece awesomely and – importantly – affordably!
