Denim For Days!

Guess what??

The 90’s called and they want their denim back!

I recall waaayyy back in the  90’s, the era of my misspent teenage youth and numerous fashion fails that I did in fact own a denim pencil skirt.

And you know what they say in fashion….. everything old is new again! If my memory serves me correctly I believe my not quite acid wash denim skirt was purchased at Big W and my sister also bought one!

So you can only imagine my excitement at seeing copious amounts of denim skirts in stores in all washes and styles. Denim Heaven I say!

Today I’m sharing 5 super easy looks using a cute little denim pencil skirt I found at Valley Girl. I paid $24.95 for this one two weeks ago and it’s already reduced to $14.95 (grrrrr!) so if you head out to look for it check the sale racks.

All the accessories – shoes – tops – jackets etc are items I already had in my wardrobe. Some are recent purchases and some are old favourites so remember to always shop your own closet first….. you never know what’s hiding in there!

Number 1 –

This is a look I put together recently using black jeans ( see it here ) and I just love it with the skirt also! Most of us have a striped tee and casual jacket in our wardrobes, add a pair of lace-up’s and your outfit is complete! I couldn’t live without these lace-up’s from Best & Less, similar styles are available at Big W and Target ranging from $10 – $15!

Number 2 –

Another simple casual look using a plaid shirt I picked up on sale at K-mart. On my many recent & regular trips to K-mart I have seen plaid shirts for $17 in a variety of colours.

Number 3 –

I’m a big fan of polka dots! This shirt is an old favourite and for a relaxed look I’ve added a K-mart denim shirt tied at the waist. I think this look would also work really well with a slogan tee ( another fav of mine! ). And those super cute lace – up flats are from Valley Girl this week for $29.95.

Number 4 –

Oh stop it!

I love me a little DD or as I recently discovered this look is also known as the Canadian Tuxedo haha! To dress up the outfit I’ve added nude block heels and a funky clutch…. I’m also trying to embrace the half – tuck thing!

Number 5 –

I’m also a really big lover of the long line cardigan. I like having something that falls over the pencil skirt and hides my legs a bit more. For the record my legs really are THAT white, no it’s not a winter thing they are just really really white!

Here are a few more fabulous denim skirts to get you inspired for the impending spring / summer weather.

Happy shopping!

Will you dare to wear denim this spring / summer!

I just went to the mall a few days ago and have been seeing denim jackets, skirts and overalls everywhere! I think that denim gives off a cute & outdoorsy vibe though, so I’m so happy it’s coming back in style. :p

    1. Thank you!
I’m currently eying off a denim dress and I love overalls but think I’m a bit old for them now so a dress is a good alternative for me!

    1. Thanks! I love double denim, hope you do dig out that A-line… it’s so good finding pieces in the back of your cupboard x

  4. So much gorgeousness! I love the first look with striped tee and sneaks. The double denim looks fab on you too. But I’ve fallen for those Valley Girl flats. Such an affordable way to get onto that trend. And the Forever New A-line skirt looks gorgeous! Will definitely check that one out!

    1. Thanks Kirralee,
I love the Forever New skirt too, definitely my favourite! You can’t go wrong with stripes and sneakers for that perfect casual look and the Valley Girl flats are the bomb! If you don’t find any I know Rubi shoes has a very similar pair for $24.95 x
